Flyscreen Queen

The Brief

Flyscreen Queen sells high-quality fly screen doors and windows to customers across the UK. They needed an e-commerce site that was fast, easy to manage, and didn't come with the overhead and ongoing costs of a traditional platform like Shopify or WooCommerce. The product range needed clear categorisation with configurable options, and the client wanted full control over product listings without touching code.

My Role

End-to-end design, development and infrastructure, from the customer-facing storefront to a bespoke admin panel for product management. I designed a solution that combines the speed of a static site with the flexibility of a dynamic product catalogue.

The Build

This project required a creative approach to e-commerce, pairing a static Astro frontend with serverless backend tooling for a solution that's both fast and manageable:

• Astro 5 static site delivering sub-second page loads with zero JavaScript framework overhead
• FoxyCart e-commerce integration for secure checkout, payment processing and order management
• Custom Cloudflare Workers + KV admin panel, allowing the client to add, edit and remove products without a developer
• Product data stored in Cloudflare KV for instant reads and zero database costs
• Responsive product pages with configurable options, pricing and clear calls to action
• Cloudflare CDN for fast global delivery and edge caching

Results

• Lightning-fast storefront with near-perfect Lighthouse performance scores
• No monthly platform fees, just static hosting and FoxyCart transaction costs
• Client can independently manage the full product catalogue via the admin panel
• Clean, conversion-focused product pages driving consistent online sales
