Cranio and Rolfing

The Brief

Cranio and Rolfing is a London-based holistic therapy practice offering Rolfing Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and complementary bodywork treatments. The existing WordPress site had become slow, difficult to maintain, and was weighed down by plugins and bloated theme code. The practitioner needed a fast, professional website that reflected the calm, considered nature of their practice, while making it easy for prospective clients to understand each therapy and get in touch.

My Role

Full site migration from WordPress to Astro, including content restructuring, design refinement, performance optimisation and deployment. I handled every aspect of the transition, from extracting and rewriting content to configuring hosting, CDN and contact form integration.

The Build

The site was rebuilt from the ground up as a static Astro site, stripping away all WordPress overhead and delivering a dramatically faster experience:

• Migrated from WordPress to Astro 5 static site, eliminating PHP, database and plugin dependencies
• Self-hosted web fonts to remove third-party requests and improve load times
• Cloudflare CDN for edge caching, SSL termination and global delivery
• Web3Forms contact integration for reliable, spam-protected enquiries
• WhatsApp integration for instant client communication
• Clean, accessible markup with structured content for each therapy offered

Results

• Page load times reduced from several seconds to under one second
• Perfect or near-perfect Lighthouse scores across all metrics
• Zero ongoing WordPress maintenance, plugin updates or security patches
• Improved enquiry flow through dual contact options, form and WhatsApp
• Cleaner, more professional presentation that better reflects the practice
